Debian Lenny is now Stable
We finally have Lenny as Stable that happened yesterday and now the gave the news in the official site of this great Linux distribution.
Also Check out this notes
Where you can see that the new testing Debian is now code named "squeeze", you can start upgrading your Etch versions to Lenny
Upgrade Debian (Old stable) Etch to Lenny (Stable)
If you have stable in your sources.list you will be getting the upgrade directly, just enter the upgrade commands, listed in the above post about upgrading.
You can also see in the official release note that this version of Lenny Stable is dedicated to Thiemo Seufer
I will wait half month or a month and will go to the new testing squeeze, in my Desktop PC.
Comments
This is good. The trouble is that I cannot get any help in using Debian 5 so it's unlikely I can ever get serious about it although I would very much like to.
I've tried several Linux distributions over the last few months have found strengths and weaknesses in each but I like the look and feel of Debian 5 best. That said, I am posting this e-mail for 'help' with Linux from the Vista 64 OS on my laptop as I cannot get D5 to find my wireless network I find that somewhat ironic and sad.
However, I will press on. I need a personal aide/tutor in D 5 to assist me in configuring, using and finally installing it. Postings to large user groups bring little helpful response. I would like to correspond with a person who really knows and loves Debian and is not afraid to share their experience with a computer literate (ex-IBM tech, retired) newcomer to Linux.
